When planning the use of shrubs, ornamental grasses, and perennials, the design team should strive to use a plant palette that is comprised of 95% regionally native plant species.
Specified sizes should be appropriate for the scale of the space and the desired “immediate impact.” Designers should be utilizing specifications where minimum standards are set for quality of plant material (size, health, vigor, branch & root structure), to be based on ANSI standards.
