RESIDENTIAL DRIVE

In some parts of the greenway system, trails will cross a multitude of residential driveways.

It is important that the driveway to be crossed be to the appropriate standard of quality to serve greenway users. Driveway aprons in the public right-of-way should be constructed in conjunction with the trail. While final design will be based upon specific intersection geometry, elements in the recommended layout should be considered as basis of design.

  • Provide clear sight lines – no plantings within 20’-0” clear sight line of trail.
  • Trees along roadway should be limbed up to 6’-0” minimum.
  • Provide concrete apron to back of trail at driveway. Apron to be flush, at the same elevation of the trail if possible.
  • While final design will be based upon specific intersection geometry, elements in the recommended layout should be considered as basis of design.
