Dardenne Greenway: Dardenne Park to Water’s Edge Banquet Center

Project Overview

Great Rivers Greenway is partnering with the City of St. Peters and community members to plan, design and build an extension of the Dardenne Greenway. This greenway extension was identified through the St. Charles County Greenway Master Plan as a high priority project by county residents and project stakeholders.

This extension is nearly two miles total, and is planned in two segments: the first will improve the existing trail that extends from Mexico Road to the Dardenne Park parking lot on Dew Court, and the second segment will extend from its current endpoint at Dew Court to the Water’s Edge Banquet Center.

Future phases of the project will extend the greenway to Brown Road Park, Sports Center Park, Old Town St. Peters, and the existing trails within 370 Lakeside Park.

Project Location

This extension will continue the greenway to the St. Peters Golf Club & Water’s Edge Banquet Center entrance. The other project segment will improve the existing paved trail between Mexico Rd and Dardenne Park.

Community Feedback: Shaping the Greenway

July 2026

On Monday, July 20, we hosted an open house in St. Peters to share updated greenway design details. If you missed the meeting, you can view the presentation materials below. In the presentation, you will see details related to the following greenway design elements:

• Native planting and seating area concepts.
• A greenway trailhead location near the Water’s Edge Banquet Center parking lot.
• A separated greenway and cart path along the existing causeway in the golf course.
• A proposed arbor over the greenway that will protect greenway visitors from errant golf shots, primarily from the 12th and 18th holes.
• A general location for new protective netting on the golf course.

January 2026

On Monday, January 26, 2026, we hosted a virtual open house to discuss the two segments of Dardenne Greenway: Mexico Rd to Dardenne Park and Dardenne Park to Water’s Edge Banquet Center.
