Baltic Creek Greenway Plan

About

The Baltic Creek Greenway master plan (below) identifies multiple alignment opportunities that provide a means to connect greenway users to outstanding destinations from the Dardenne Greenway to Veterans Tribute Park to the Katy Trail State Park. Great Rivers Greenway’s Board of Directors formally adopted the Baltic Creek master plan in 2024, solidifying the district’s commitment to promoting plan recommendations, supporting future grant funding opportunities and facilitating plan implementation through future capital investment budgets.

The northern area alignment is recommended as the highest priority phase for implementing the Baltic Creek Greenway. While this alignment is mostly within a utility corridor, intersections and roadway crossings will require further studies to determine feasibility, crossing alternatives, safety, and potential costs to implement. Due to current priorities and commitments in St. Charles County and limited available funds, the project is currently on hold. The next steps for the Baltic Creek Greenway North Area will focus on building partnerships and gathering information, including: looking into possible deed restrictions, identifying wetlands and planning for their protection, working with the appropriate agencies on needed intersection improvements, and identifying additional funding sources, such as federal grants.

Project partners include the Cities of St. Peters, Cottleville and Weldon Spring, as well as St. Charles County. Our partners continue to build community support and enthusiasm for the master plan and work with Great Rivers Greenway to prioritize future Baltic Creek Greenway implementation. Through leveraging partnerships among all stakeholders, the greenway can become a reality.
