Project Overview
Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) is currently working on a major storm sewer project along Kirkham Avenue. This project presents an opportunity to build a small 0.36-mile segment of Shady Creek Greenway between Elm and Gore following the completion of the sewer project, reducing temporary impacts to traffic and greenway construction cost. In 2006, this area was identified as a potential route in the Shady Creek and Deer Creek Concept Plan that recommended a connection between Lorraine Davis Park and Larson Park in Webster Groves. With this storm sewer project underway, we are working with our partners at the City of Webster Groves to hear what the community thinks about a greenway in this area and understand their current priorities for other connections in Webster Groves.
Project Location
This 0.36-mile greenway segment will follow MSD’s work along Kirkham Avenue, generally between Gore Avenue and Elm Avenue.

Community Feedback: Shaping the Greenway
Thank you to everyone who participated in our two open houses and public survey for this project throughout September and October 2025. We had over 100 people attend the open houses and received more than 350 survey responses (many respondents – over 87% – expressed support for a potential greenway). Below is a summary of the feedback we received from the public survey, as well as the revised greenway alignment options and conceptual designs that were created based off this feedback and initial technical feasibility studies. These plans are conceptual only and do not represent final designs for this segment of the Shady Creek Greenway. The planning and alignment study phase of this project will be completed in December 2025. Design will continue in early 2026 with additional opportunities for community feedback as we move through the design phase.
