Project Overview
The City of O’Fallon, St. Charles County and Great Rivers Greenway are partnering to build a new greenway connection between Bluebird Meadow and O’Fallon Sports Park. Greenway visitors appreciate the trail and natural beauty, but Bluebird Meadow is currently isolated from the rest of the Dardenne Greenway. This connection was identified as one of the nine priorities in the St. Charles County Greenway Master Plan and is an important step in closing the gap in Dardenne Greenway between Bluebird Meadow in Dardenne Prairie and Highway N in Cottleville.
Project Location
This new section of greenway will start at Bluebird Meadow and run one-mile west through O’Fallon Sports Park to the Highway K shared-use path.
Project Partners
Current Status
This project has been awarded a federal grant through the Transportation Alternatives Program with construction funds available in fall of 2026. The City of O’Fallon, St. Charles County, and Great Rivers Greenway are working with the community and project partners to complete design plans for this greenway segment. Construction is anticipated in 2027.
