Partners City of Brentwood and Great Rivers Greenway (GRG), the public agency that has been connecting the region with greenways for 25 years, invites community members to celebrate the new section of the Deer Creek Greenway on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The free event in conjunction with Brentwood’s “Saturday in the Park” event series is happening in Brentwood Park at 2924 Brazeau Ave, is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. As parking here fills up quickly, guests should explore all possible parking options or take the greenway from a nearby destination to the event.
With community input, partners built the next section of the Deer Creek Greenway, a 0.25-mile new, paved, accessible greenway (path) alongside Brentwood Boulevard. Now 3.6 miles in total, the greenway links Brentwood Park, Deer Creek Park, Lorraine Davis Park, Barnickel Park and neighborhoods and destinations in between, connecting Brentwood, Webster Groves, and Maplewood, with plans to build further to the City of St. Louis and River Des Peres Greenway, beginning construction later this year.
“This small but mighty connection links together so many wonderful parks, neighborhoods, shops and restaurants together, really giving people options to explore Brentwood and beyond,” said Susan Trautman, retiring CEO for Great Rivers Greenway.
“We know our residents value getting outside, being active and making memories together and the Deer Creek Greenway helps all of that happen,” said Mayor David Dimmitt, City of Brentwood. “This is the last piece of the overall Brentwood Bound project, our $80 million solution to overcome flooding and safety challenges along the Deer Creek channel in this part of our community.”
Community members from across the region are invited to the celebration, which includes live music with Red and Black Brass Band, Ramblin Rounds and HomeStyle Grill food trucks, skate rentals and facepainting! Partner remarks are at 11:15 a.m. and a 1-mile Walk and Roll in Brentwood Park begins at 11:30am. Guests can bring their helmets for free fittings with the Brentwood Police Department. Trailnet is leading a group bike ride to and from the event from nearby MetroLink stations (free, register here).
