Engagement is vital to this project.
There have been dozens of listening sessions, committee and working group meetings, pop-up events, open houses, neighborhood meetings, business and institutional outreach, online surveys and more, gathering the input of approximately 3,000 residents of the region. This level of quality civic engagement will continue throughout the life of this project.

Shown at right, engagement during this planning process was a community-driven, collaborative and iterative process. As such, the project used a cycle of engagement to inform the decision making process, using the International Association of Public Participation‘s spectrum to understand the type of engagement for each audience and each phase. This approach allowed the team to ask a variety of audiences throughout several phases; we would “Ask” for input, “Align” their feedback with project plans and “Act” through advancement of the project from phase to phase. The decision making process is continual and will keep going throughout the project and future detailed design and implementation.
