Deer Creek Greenway Tour for St. Louis GirlTrek Led by North Webster Neighborhood Residents

GirlTrek is a global organization that inspires black women and girls to commit to a daily habit of walking. The St. Louis GirlTrek chapter recently enjoyed a walk on the Deer Creek Greenway led by residents of the North Webster neighborhood. The walk was part of GirlTrek’s Black History Bootcamp, a 21-day walking meditation reflecting on stories of Black resilience and resistance to help Black women navigate through these uncertain times. Residents of the North Webster neighborhood shared stories of their neighborhood’s rich, 150 year history as a self-sufficient Black community. Stops along the greenway walking tour included Lorraine Davis Park, the former Douglass School, and several houses of worship that serve as community anchors to this day. If your organization would like to talk about a guided greenway tour, contact Elizabeth Simons, Great Rivers Greenway Community Program Manager at 314-932-4904 or

GirlTrek has inspired more than a million (and counting) Black women to commit to a daily habit of walking, transforming their health, their hope, and their hometowns in the process. Learn more about GirlTrek here.
