Deer Creek Greenway: Small park at intersection of Big Bend Blvd. & Oxford Blvd. in Webster Groves

Project Overview:

Great Rivers Greenway and the City of Webster Groves are partnering with community members to plan a small park at the intersection of Big Bend and Oxford Blvd. in Webster Groves (near Deer Creek Shopping Center.) The park will include an extension of Deer Creek Greenway to fill the gap between the current endpoint of the trail and the 2025 Deer Creek Greenway extension through Maplewood to the River Des Peres Greenway. This park will:

  1. 1. Connect Webster Groves to a regional trail network
  2. 2. Beautify a gateway to the Webster Groves Community
  3. 3. Reduce flooding impacts by converting a vacant parking lot into a park

Project Location:

Intersection of Big Bend and Oxford Blvd; this will be a part of future Deer Creek Greenway expansion from Deer Creek Shopping Center through Maplewood to connect to River des Peres Greenway.

Project Partners:

  • Great Rivers Greenway
  • City of Webster Groves

Project Status

As part of the initial study for this project, the community told us they wanted a park and other improvements at this location. Since then, we have acquired the property rights to develop the park and conducted a public survey in summer 2023 to gather ideas about what this new space could look like. Thank you to the 1000+ community members who weighed in on the survey! You can see the results of that survey on this page. We are continuing to work with our technical team to advance the design of this park based on the community’s vision.
