A small section of the Deer Creek Greenway and ballfields in Maplewood’s Deer Creek Park will be temporarily closed beginning the week of November 22, 2021 for a project that will improve the Deer Creek stream bank. Greenway users and park visitors will be able to walk around the area, but will not be able to use the greenway within the designated construction site. Weather permitting, the work should be complete in spring 2022.

Working together with the City of Maplewood, the goals of this project are to reduce erosion in Deer Creek to not only prevent damage to the paved trail, but also protect water quality and improve drainage for the ballfields. These improvements will be accomplished by reducing the slope of the streambank and adding native plants with deep roots that will stabilize and hold the soil in place.  Learn more about the project here.
