Deer Creek Greenway Connector: Deer Creek Greenway to Brentwood Park

Project Overview

Great Rivers Greenway is partnering with the City of Brentwood to plan, design and build an expansion of the Deer Creek Greenway to connect with Marshall Avenue Trailhead, parks, businesses and other amenities within Brentwood. This project is a part of Brentwood’s $80 million Brentwood Bound plan to improve Manchester Road, reduce problems caused by Deer Creek flooding, and expand the Deer Creek Greenway. The project includes several water quality, streambank restoration, and open space features as well as a greenway underpass below Manchester Road. This project has been divided into two phases; the first part includes new paved trails within the Brentwood Bound project area and the underpass beneath Manchester Rd. Phase one is complete. The second phase is the extension of the Deer Creek Greenway along the east side of Brentwood Blvd from Marshall Rd to connect with the new paved trails. This phase is underway now!

Project Location

The Deer Creek Greenway expansion will connect from the intersection of Marshall Road and Brentwood Boulevard and will extend north to the Rogers Parkway trail and east along Deer Creek toward the intersection of Hanley and Manchester Roads near the Maplewood MetroLink Station. When complete, the Deer Creek Greenway Connector will create a paved, accessible walking and biking trail linking Brentwood’s Memorial Park (with sidewalk access to Brentwood Promenade and Brentwood Pointe shopping centers) to Lorraine Davis Park, Barnickel Park and Deer Creek Park in Webster Groves, Deer Creek Park in Maplewood and the Deer Creek Shopping Center at Big Bend Boulevard.

Project Partners

The Brentwood Bound Project is a partnership between Brentwood, MoDot, MSD and St. Louis County. The Deer Creek Greenway expansion is a partnership between:

  • Great Rivers Greenway
  • City of Brentwood

Current Status

Construction of phase one of the greenways in the new Brentwood Park + the greenway underpass beneath Manchester Road is complete. Work is underway to connect the Deer Creek Greenway at Marshall Ave to the Deer Creek Greenway in the new Brentwood Park. The sidewalk along the east side of Brentwood Blvd. is now CLOSED between Marshall Avenue and the new Brentwood Park to accommodate construction of a new paved trail. Crews are also adding an extension to the side of the bridge over Deer Creek to allow for a wider path. The City of Brentwood is working on a connection along Russell Avenue to Brentwood Sports Park. Work is expected to be complete in December 2024.
