Life Outside Festival June 11 at Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park

Don’t miss this free festival of the outdoors  that includes activities for all ages to see, try and learn!

Life Outside logoResidents of the St. Louis region are invited to Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park on Saturday, June 11 from 10am to 7pm for a free festival of the outdoors. Great Rivers Greenway and dozens of other partners have teamed up to bring outdoor activities together in one place for people to discover and connect to everything our region has to offer.

“This is a chance for people to try new activities and discover how they might be able to live life outside more often,” said Elizabeth Simons, Community Program Manager for Great Rivers Greenway. “There’s something for everyone at Life Outside that they can take back to their own yard, local park or out on the greenways.”

The festival brings together area businesses, nonprofits and clubs to offer activities for people of all ages to see, try and learn. Free activities include tree climbing, kayaking lessons, birdwatching, rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, nature crafts and activities for kids, walks and bike rides throughout the day, gardening and yoga. Partners have planned the festival with the goal of showcasing these opportunities to people all over the region, not just those already involved in outdoor activities.

Life Outside-630063“We have an amazing culture of the outdoors here in St. Louis, but it can be hard to know how to get started,” said Brad Kovach, Editor and Publisher of Terrain Magazine. “Life Outside is a way for people to check it all out without a hefty price tag or time commitment.”
Great Rivers Greenway’s district includes St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County, so Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park, which hosts hundreds of visitors and families every weekend, was chosen as the central location for this regional event. Life Outside will be at the Tremayne Shelter area on the north side of the lake.

“This park has so much to offer – Life Outside is a great chance to explore Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park’s walking, running, mountain biking and water trails,” said Maggie Martin, Events Coordinator for St. Louis County Parks.

In addition to outdoor activities, local bands will be playing throughout the day. The lineup includes Funky Butt Brass Band, Fresh Heir, Roland Johnson & Soul Endeavor, Riverbend, Celia’s Singalong Dance Party and Loot Rock Gang. Food and drink are available for purchase from area food trucks, including donated beer from New Belgium and Urban Chestnut. Great Southern Bank, Husch Blackwell and Now 96.3 are among the sponsors for the event.
