Honeysuckle Weekly Walking Group in the Deer Creek Greenway: Lorraine Davis Park

March 26th 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Please join us for a weekly walking group and help eradicate honeysuckle from Lorraine Davis Park at the same time! Our job is to make sure no honeysuckle that was cut in the fall of 2018 has the chance to regrow. We’ll be testing the “Cut and Strip” method of eradicating Bush honeysuckle. Instead of using chemicals, it involves cutting the plant down to 3 feet  in the fall or winter, then stripping any regrowth off the remaining stem on a weekly basis in the early spring.

We’ll start by rubbing leaves off re-sprouting honeysuckle and finish with a trail or park walk. Our initial focus will be Lorraine Davis Park but will continue along the Deer Creek Greenway as progress allows. This is a great way to help the environment, network, and get your morning exercise all in one fell swoop!

Please dress in layers, bring your own water bottle and wear sturdy walking shoes.

Please sign up for one or all of the events here.
