UPDATE- The greenway remains open as of Jan. 2020 but is impacted by construction activities (trucks crossing, equipment etc.). Please use caution in this area. We are unclear when the greenway will close. The greenway will be all clear for the GO! St. Louis Marathon on March 29, 2020!

The Mississippi Greenway (Riverfront Trail) south of Mary Meachum Visitor Center to Branch Street will close on August 8, 2019 to accommodate reconstruction of the Terminal Railroad Bridge over the Mississippi River. This closure is expected to last through 2022. Greenway users will need to find an alternate route. Access to the McKinley Bridge Bikeway will remain open, but there will be no access to the MCT Confluence Trail on the Illinois side of the bridge. The MCT Confluence Trail is closed from the end of the McKinley Bridge north the Levee Ramp off E Street in America’s Central Port, Granite City. This closure is also due to the Terminal Railroad Bridge project. (click here for more info on MCT closures)

We understand this is an inconvenience – one of the challenges when working alongside an industrial riverfront. The railroad has budgeted funds to ensure the greenway is ready for walking and riding when construction in the area is complete. Biddle to Rootwad Park
Recent Mississippi River flooding impacted the Ashley Energy Plant on Lewis Street. They are blocking the greenway between Biddle and Rootwad Park to accommodate temporary systems to generate steam outside the plant. Please find an alternate route. Check back for updates on the timeline for this closure. NOTE: The trailhead parking lot at Biddle is also closed.

Maline Creek
Flooding damaged the retaining wall near Maline Creek. Please use caution in this area.
