What’s Next for The Historic Old Chain of Rocks Bridge Site?

Over the course of 2019, Great Rivers Greenway has been working with a variety of stakeholders to create a vision for the Missouri side of the historic Route 66 Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. Stakeholders include people who have a vested interest in this area and others who have technical knowledge of the Chain of Rocks Bridge site. When complete, the vision will incorporate safety and security, the entry experience approaching the bridge along with potential events and the facilities needed to support them.

We are grateful for the nearly fifty neighbors and close to a dozen people representing organizations interested in hosting programs and events who shared what they believe is needed to bring people to the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge on a regular basis and ensure its long term success. Great Rivers Greenway will continue to work with stakeholders in 2020 to design and engineer baseline improvements for the site.
