Join us for a tree planting and invasive species removal event at Brentwood Wetland on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at 9am – 12pm.

Volunteer Check-in starts at 8:45 a.m. Parking is available at 3000 S Brentwood Blvd. We will be working along the riparian corridor of Deer Creek planting native Missouri trees, provided by Forest Releaf of Missouri, and removing invasive plants along Deer Creek.

Tools and gloves will be provided. Fall is a perfect time to remove invasive plants to decrease competition and allow the native species to fill in and dominate the landscape. This is a family friendly event that is open to all ages.

Please dress for the weather. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes that they do not mind getting dirty.

Things to bring:

  • waiver form (Print out or email in advance)
  • safety glasses
  • water bottle
  • sunscreen
  • bug spray
  • hat
  • sturdy walking shoes
  • dress in layers

Meet Mona

Mona Vespa is the President of GO! St. Louis. GO! is a local non-profit organization that encourages individuals and families in the #STL region to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle year round. They accomplish this through community collaborations, school-based programming and the creation of new and fun fitness events:

“Running is my sport, my hobby and my profession! Personally, I can’t imagine a better way to explore your own city than on foot, and the greenways are the perfect way to do that! Every time I run a greenway, I am reminded that our city is incredibly diverse in landscape and character, but is also comprised of neighborhoods and communities who are all working towards a similar goal: to make their part of our city a vibrant and welcoming home. And as a part of my job, what a joy it is to share that with the runners and walkers of our area. I’ve used greenways for several GO! St. Louis race routes, and our Summer Passport program’s entire focus is to introduce more runners to the incredible gem of these paths throughout our city. GO! St. Louis is thankful for GRG’s work and dedication to outdoor recreation in our region!”

Deer Creek Greenway at Brentwood Park Opening Celebration June 2023

Posted on Wednesday July 17, 2024

We joined the City of Brentwood on June 2 & 3, 2023  to cut the ribbon and celebrate the new Deer Creek Greenway extension in Brentwood and the recently completed Brentwood Park. There were food trucks, games, a bubble bus, art & the chance to explore the new greenway & park.

This project was completed as part of the larger Brentwood Bound Project. The goal of Brentwood Bound was to mitigate the repeated flooding events of Deer Creek and also improve Manchester Road in Brentwood. Read all about the new Brentwood Park here. The new destination playground will be opening in 2024!
