DESIGN GOALS – MAKE THE GREENWAY RECOGNIZABLE

The designed character and identity on each greenway is created by the sum of all of the parts within it. Features like walls, columns, paving patterns and choices of site furniture are each important components to develop the look and feel of a greenway.

As the most developed of all of the greenways to date, River des Peres Greenway is a good study in how these parts come together to create the whole greenway. From the initial segment developed in the early 2000’s we have seen many of the materials selections and design elements extended along more recently implemented portions of the trail. Some of these elements have even been expanded to other parts of the District. These are some of the key elements and materials that have been used to create that identity.
